This new body of work is a response to a social experiment in which people were asked their views about a heterosexual couple embracing in a busy square in the heart of Istanbul.
Intimus is a Latin word that has a distant connection to the word intimacy. Using this as the title for her project, Asli highlights her own distant sentiment from the overwhelmingly negative comments made by the people who took part in this experiment. Photographs in response to the experiment are on display to subvert the social norms of public/private intimacy.
